British Psychological Society

Rick Portsmouth is a member of The British Psychological Society (BPS) which is the representative body for psychologists and psychology in the UK. By its Royal Charter the Society is charged with national responsibility for the development, promotion and application of psychology for the public good.

Our three major aims:

• to encourage the development of psychology as a scientific discipline and an applied profession
  
  
• to raise standards of training and practice in the application of psychology
  
  
• to raise public awareness of psychology and increase the influence of psychological practice in society.
