What is Dyslexia?
Dyslexia is a specific learning difficulty that makes it more difficult for the dyslexic learner to acquire reading, writing, spelling, handwriting, and sometimes numeracy and planning/organisational skills.
It has a neurological basis and is characterised by delays in literacy development that are often unexpected in relation to age and other cognitive and academic elements, and have been resistant to appropriate learning opportunities.
Underlying factors such as weaknesses in working memory, difficulties with phonological processing and poor information management/study skills are often identified as factors inhibiting progression in learning.
Dyslexia is a condition which can greatly affect people of all ages and abilities. Should you recognise any of the features that indicate Dyslexia might be present, then please get in touch with us soon to arrange an assessment from which a diagnosis, and appropriate advice about future action can be provided.
